Mad Dog Movie Reviews

Shaun of the Dead (2004)

(4 Mad Dogs)

Directed by: Edgar Wright (Um, of some British show called Spaced)

Starring: Simon Pegg (? As Shaun), Kate Ashfield (From the awful Angelina Jolie movie Beyond Borders, as Liz), Nick Frost (again? as Ed)

Okay I am not going to go on and on about the story line here, so here is a quick roundup. Shaun is just a normal guy, he wants to drink his beer, play some videogames with his friend Ed and love his woman Liz. Of course Liz could do without the beer or videogames (bitch) and she just wants Shaun to mature a bit and take her out to someplace proper. Of course Shaun wants to do this because he loves her, he promises to change and when he screws up she dumps him, so of course he and Ed go out and get smashed.

The problem is, after their night of drinking they wake up to a world inhabited with the recently deceased and they want blood. Once Shaun and Ed figure out what’s going on they go on a mission to save Shaun’s mom and Liz as well as his Step dad and Liz’ flat mates. On the way they have to fight the zombies to get to a safe place and then when they get to the safe place they have to fight the zombies off when they break in so that they can survive.

That’s it I am not saying anymore about the story, so here is what I think about it. FUCKING AWESOME! It wasn’t filled with British humor but it was very funny, the zombies were more like the slow moving one’s I remember as a kid (which I appreciated) and it had some gore in it. The only thing it was missing was a boob shot but it didn’t matter because this was just a fun movie, I highly recommend it.
