Constantine (2005)

Directed by: Francis Lawrence in his directorial debut!

Starring: Keanu Reeves (from “Sweet November”) as John Constantine and Rachel Weisz (from “I Want You” in which she gets naked and I mean fully) as a double role of Angela Dodson/Isabel Dodson

Based on the Vertigo/DC comic book Hellblazer, this movie should be destined to join such luminary films as Captain America, Daredevil, Elektra and both Punisher films in the pantheon of crap comic book movies! Ok it wasn’t as bad as those movies but it was pretty awful. John Constantine committed suicide 20 years previous to this movie and now he knows he will be sent to hell upon dying so he has taken up the business of sending demons back to hell so that he can earn his way into heaven. Of course the catch is that you can not buy your way into heaven. Rachel Weisz comes to him to see if her sister is in Hell because she committed suicide and then they uncover something much more sinister.

When you go to a movie and you are hoping there are more previews, you have a problem. When you get out of a movie and you wonder how it earned 0 stars you have a problem and if you go to see this in the theater you have a problem. I do not recommend this at all except for on a Saturday afternoon when you are hungover and it is on TBS!
