Sin City (2005)

Directed By: Robert Rodriguez (Does anyone remember “The Faculty”? well he directed that too) and Frank Miller (great comic book writer, awful director of Robocop 2)

Starring: Bruce Willis (Color of Night, baby!!!!!) as Hartigan, Mickey Rourke (yes the same guy of penis in the popcorn trick in Diner) as Marv and Jessica Alba (of the woefully under watched Dark Angel) as HOT…I mean Nancy Callahan

I have never read the books so I may be a good person to review this for the non geek set out there.
This movie was surprisingly good. It looked great and except for early performances of crap by Bruce Willis and Michael Madsen as well as Nick Stahl, who is never good, this was pretty well acted.

The story is based on three short stories done by Frank Miller. The strongest of which is the second which is the re-awakening of Mickey Rourke(!) who was a pretty good actor until he realized that drugs come easy to actor’s. There is also a story in which Clive Owen does a good job of making prostitution and murder boring so if you really think about it, this is a great one act play with two mediocre acts around it.

In the end I would say go see this movie. It isn’t revolutionary and it may not be full price worthy but it is chock full of action, nudity and violence. So it is a great Saturday hangover movie and the visuals help too!
