Mad Dog Movie Reviews

War of the Worlds (2005)

(1 Mad Dogs)

Directed by: Steven Spielberg (He is also directing the 3 sequel in the Indiana Jones series, Indiana Jones and the search for more money)

Starring: Tom Cruise (how did he not get into Battlefield Earth?) as Ray Ferrier and Dakota Fanning (from the soon to be bomb remake “Charlotte’s Web” well her whole film career is just a long string of bombs anyway so why change now?)

Ok so this movie could not hold my interest at all. Sure the special effects were dazzling but everything else was so lackluster is was almost laughable. Ok so maybe I will be taking away that almost and tell it straight, this movie was laughable. The plot was weak, the acting was horrendous, another movie where characters make decisions that no one would ever do and not a character worth rooting for at all. This movie was just plain crap.

I don’t understand why you would make a movie without one compelling character in it? I mean even horror movies have them; sure it is the bad guy but still. I mean were we supposed to connect with Tom Cruise saving his kids? I know I didn’t get that feeling since he didn’t really seem like such a great father to me. Or was it Dakota Fanning whining through the whole thing? Or do we care about the son who was just an idiot? Just crap.

I only watched this movie because of it being in the house, I would not see it in the theater and I recommend everyone to wait for this to come to the WB when they randomly show a late night movie!
