Mad Dog Movie Reviews

The Fantastic Four (1994)

(1 Mad Dogs)

Directed By: Oley Sassone (Bloodfist III: Forced to Fight)
Starring (using this term very loosely): Alex Hyde-White (Biggles) As Mr. Fantastic, Jay Underwood (The Boy Who Could Fly) As The Human Torch, Rebecca Staab (T.N.T.) As The Invisible Girl, Michael Bailey Smith (Monster Man) As Thing and Joseph Culp (CyWork 7) as Dr. Doom.

Before you start asking why I got all of this info wrong and where is Jessica Alba’s credit. Well I didn’t get them wrong and she isn’t in this movie. This is a Roger Corman production from 1994 and if you haven’t seen it, well…you are not alone. This movie was shelved as soon as it was completed and even though there were posters in theaters for it, the movie has never been released on any format and can only be found on the internet or through shady video stores.

The movie itself is a low budget feature about how the team came together and how they received there powers, with enough plot holes and wtf moment’s to than you can shake a stick at. After our intro, Thing is controlled by DR.Doom who has kidnapped his girlfriend into doing evil things. Yeah like a mound of rocks would have a girlfriend, oh yeah that’s right she is blind. Oh but wait, she could still feel his rock body? Why am I over analyzing this?

Story: Poorly written and over acted. Perfect for some unintentional comedy.

Characters: Poorly developed and stupid. Perfect for some unintentional comedy.

Humor: See above. Also the special effects are laughable at best. The whole thing is just so cheesy, even for a Corman production. The best part of the movie is at the end, just hold out and Mr. Fantastic pulls a move that nearly had me shit myself.

Nudity: None. Not the biggest of disappointments but in a B movie I need at least an ass shot.

Violence/Gore: Some action which looked like a theme park action show. Seriously the violence was nearly non existent and there was very little in the gore, mostly a disturbing scene at best.

Other: The copy of this film is terrible. It looks like a bootleg that you would buy off a guy on the corner. That does not help matters at all, actually it makes it harder to sit through.

Final Verdict: Bad copy, bad acting, bad story, no nudity and very little violence and gore…1/5 Mad Dogs and that is a stretch.
