Mad Dog Movie Reviews

Chopping Mall (1986)

(4 Mad Dogs)

Directed By: Jim Wynorski (Transylvania Twist)
Starring: Kelli Maroney (Transylvania Twist), Tony O’Dell (TV’s Head of the Class), and Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator)

Robots were all the rage in 1986 and more importantly it was all about the robots who just didn’t do what they were supposed to because of…wait for it…wait…Lightening! In this one, 4 couples decide to spend the night in the mall to have a party in a furniture store. Unfortunately for them it is also the first night of service for the new security guards, 3 robots who no longer follow their program!

Story: Cops out with an easy explanation for why the robots go bad but for a slasher film it isn’t that unoriginal.

Characters: You get the Nerd, Whore, Slut, Asshole, Priss and all of your other favorite stereotypes

Humor: Sadly there isn’t even a little bit of unintentional comedy. BORING!

Nudity: BOOBIES! Showering in the mall locker rooms at the mall? I have never heard of that but it’s A ok with me. Girl’s flashing guy’s to go buy cigarettes for them, heck I would have a carton on me. All in all a happy way to pass the time before the real killing starts

Violence/Gore: Good times! Electrocutions, burnings and some stabbing along the way. A little more blood would have been even better.

Final Verdict: Poorly acted, too much like Short Circuit and not nearly as funny as a slasher film should be in this category and yet it works. I don’t know why but to this day it is still an enjoyable film, maybe it was because it is stupid or maybe it’s the boobies.
