Mad Dog Movie Reviews

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)

(4 Mad Dogs)

Just turning on this movie brought back memories that I wish I never had, memories of being a junior high loser who went straight from school with the rest of his dork friends to watch this teh day it came out. Memories of me shaking Michelangelo's hand at the pizzaria next to the movie theater after the film was over. Memories of me buying a cheap orange mask with two holes cut out for eyes so I could dress like Michelangelo. But no memory is worse than the fact that I saw it 2 more times in the theater.

So iwhen the new one came out I had to buy the original. It needed to be done, but is it still as good as I remember it? In a word...no, but in a phrase I would have to say that it is even better than I remember it as a junior high loser.

So for the very few of you who have never seen this masterpiece, TMNT is about a group of mutated turtles who live in New York and we should be thankful for that since the evil "Foot Clan" and their evil leader Shredder has brought fear to the city. No one has experienced the fear more than the lovely reporter April O'Neil (the woman here actually makes Kirsten Dunst look like a good choice for Mary Jane in Spider-Man) who the Turtles swoop in to save  and eventually save the city.

Watching this movie nearly 20 years after it came out had me weary of the quality and the awful soundtrac featuring Technotronic and MC Hammer didnt quel my doubts but it really is pretty damn good. All these years later and I still sat at the edge of my seat as I jumped around with the action and laughe my ass off with the lame ass jokes. Go out and but this shit for a dose of T-U-R-T-L-E POWER!!! Plus it's only 10 bucks, so how can you lose?
