Merchandising, marekting tie-ins and how to spot a shitty movie before you enter the theater. If I ever write a book I think that will be the title of it because besides death and taxes, over merchandising for crappy movies is the last of life's absolutes. Sadly, this movie will be an example of this truth.
Spiderman 3 starts off with Peter thinking that all is well with the world. He has the girl (MJ, played by the awful choice of Kirsten "Snaggle Tooth" Dunst) the city loves Spider-Man and he is comfortable if not a little overy self absorbed with hi alter ego. Unfortunately for him, his world will never be perfect and Harry still wants him dead, he has competition at work and there is a new super villain in town. Oh, and a new female friend to throw a wrench in his love life.
If this is any indication on how this series will continue we are in for trouble of Matrix proportions. There was way too many villains, too many loose ends tied up easily and WAY WAY WAY too may scenes that either made no sense or had no reason to be in the film. From start to finish this was a bloated mess AND way too talky for a comic book adaptation of an action comic. Do yourself a favor and wait for it to come to HBO because this one may not be worth even a DVD rental.
