Man in the Mirror: The Michael Jackson Story
(3 Mad Dogs)
Starring: Flex Alexander (You may remember him form Homeboys in Outer space, but more likely from nothing) as Michael Jackson (MJ). I couldn’t add anymore names out of respect for people who star in real movies.
With Michael Jackson due in court soon, VH1 decided that it is time to put out a movie about the past 20 years in Michael’s life and how truly deranged a human being he is. It is a movie that is just one big kick in Michael’s balls while he is down. But was it any good? Well that I had trouble deciding because:
See I would do a review about how bad the script was, but with scenes that play out like when he is first brought up on charges of being a pedophile:
"Michael Johnny Cochran is the best criminal defense attorney in the country"
"BUT I'M NOT A CRIMINAL"
"That's just what they call it Michael"
"WELL CHANGE IT! IT SOUNDS UGLY!"
I mean right there we know that this movie was trying to be serious but it just left you scratching your head. But to be fair VH1 did give us that dreadful MC Hammer movie so I knew that this would be crap too.
Once you know a movie is going to suck, story wise it is up to the way the movie looks and how it is produced to see if it can be salvaged.
Well in a word about how it looks, terrible. First of all it shows Michael going through plastic surgery many times and each time his nose looks exactly the same as it did from the beginning of the movie, evidently 50 cent noses re too expensive for this movie. That is far from the only problem with how the people look in this movie. Michael is also ripped, Janet looks like…well she looks like a human but nothing close to the real Janet I mean she was as thin as a rail in a time where she still had the baby fat going on. The real disaster had to be with Elizabeth Taylor, who was apparently being played by a delta Burke impersonator.
So now the story sucks, the way people looks sucks but what about the music?
Well the fact that there was no actual Michael Jackson music in it also hurts it. Especially when you are watching him do a performance and he is moving his lips but all you hear is some crappy music, I guess MJ wouldn’t give the rights to the movie. I wonder why?
Okay so now everything sucks. So that means the movie sucked too right? Wrong, this movie is pure crap but it’s like a train wreck, there is a line every 5-10 minutes that either shocks the hell out of you or makes you laugh your ass off. Flex does a spot on impression of the South Park version of MJ and the acting is just so awful that you can’t help yourself but to enjoy it.
It’s not a good movie but it is damn enjoyable, especially if you are under the influence. So remember, ''There’s nothing to be afraid of in Neverland’’ and pick up a six pack before you watch Man in the Mirror.
