Take one dash of Family Guy add 1 dash of Star Wars and you get....Crap!
September 24, 2007

I know I have complained about the Family Guy in the past and how it is a stake show that relies on pop culture references for laughs, but I wanted to give it another shot because of an hour long pop culture reference. Sure it makes me look a bit hypocritical for me to want to watch a show for something I hate about it but I got swallowed by the hype and I figured if everyone else is talking about it and how great the show is then this would be the ultimate showcase for it to redeem itself with.

It didn't take long for me to know I made a mistake.

The show continually tries to ram things down your throat in order for you to either: A) get the joke that failed or B) if you actually liked the joke to relive it again and again in that very minute. The opening of the Star Wars story was funny as the scrolling words were changed to free form ideas and it worked until it lasted too long. Oh and yes I understand that in the film it goes on for a while as well but at least it was supplying info instead of trying to pull laughs long after the joke died.

From there things the show continued on as all episodes do with a mix of uneven jokes and failed references. A quick "Deal or no Deal" reference was puzzling in as to why they needed it. Then we get a musical number featuring the song, Time of my Life, which was an agonizing 3 minutes I will never get back. Finally a miserable "Vacation" gag that made me wish I wasn't born.

No, I did not like Family Guy and I should have known better but I gave it another try but with that I am done. RIP Family guy, you could have been better if the writers only cared.

P.S. The animation was kick ass!
